picture selection: Tasmania
closest town(s): Coles Bay
Freycinet Nationalpark covers the southern tip of Freycinet Peninsula and includes Shouten Island
and the Friendly Beaches. The nicest walking tracks start at Coles Bay at the bottom of the pink
coloured granite rocks called Hazards. You will pass amazing coves and fantastic white beaches,
e.g. at Wineglass Bay. If you have more time you can do a hike of about 27 kilometers over the
peninsula. You may see wild flowers or some of the endemic animals like black cockatoos, honey
eaters or Bennetts wallabies.
