| Lake Pedder was once a beautiful natural lake with a magnificient beach. Against the will of many citizens the lake was flooded in 1972 in order to be used for power production together with the dammed Lake Gordon. Both lakes together hold 27 times as much water as Sydney Harbour and are Australia's largest freshwater reservoir. The lakes are part of the Southwest Nationalpark which is mainly unknown wilderness. | |||
