Purnululu NP |

Purnululu Nationalpark covers an area of 3000 square kilometers and is famous for its
rock towers and colourful rock layers. Purnululu means sandstone in the Kija
Aborigines' language whereas Bungle Bungle probalby evolved from a wrong
pronounciation of a gras plant called bundle bundle. There are a lot of interesting
hikes, e.g. to Echidna Chasm or Cathedral Gorge as well as a ten hours round
trip through Piccaninny Gorge. You get a special impression when doing a scenic
flight over the bungles starting from Kununurra or Halls Creek. If departing from
Kununurra you will pay a little bit more but can relish the fantastic view of Lake Argyle
and Argyle Diamond Mine from the air. |
