Kangaroo Island has been seperated from the mainland for about 9500 years
and is the third biggest island of Australia being 150 kilometers long and 30 Ks wide.
The name Kangaroo Island was given to the island by Matthew Flinders in 1802.
Unfortunately it was not for idyllic reasons but because Flinders and his men ate kangaroo
after having no meat for a long time. That explains the name of the nationalpark: Flinders Chase. |
