Murray River is Australia's longest river. It rises in the Snowy Mountains - Australia's Alps -
and flows into Lake Alexandrina after 650 kilometers. From there it flows into the Southern
Ocean passing through Coorong Nationalpark. Murray River is today used for drinking
water supply and irritgation. In former times it was known as the Australian Mississippi when
paddle steamers were used for transportation. Murray River Nationalpark is mainly interesting
if you like canoeing or observing birds. |
